As a reminder, IE11 has been out of support since June 15, 2022. The change to use Microsoft Edge update to disable IE is intended to provide a better user experience and help organizations transition their last remaining IE11 users to Microsoft Edge. All remaining devices that have not already been redirected from IE11 to Microsoft Edge are scheduled to be redirected with the Microsoft Edge update scheduled for February 14, 2023. The out-of-support Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) desktop application is scheduled to be permanently disabled on certain versions of Windows 10 devices on February 14, 2023, through a Microsoft Edge update, not a Windows update as previously communicated. Posted by user Brink today in the very early hours: The links the article links to are behind login-wall and I don't have the time or willingness to register in yet another site, so this is what I found this morning. maybe will delay things a bit I hope not sure but whatever. So for that reason I do want my IE so I'm removing Edge beta as I write, moving to Edge release. ![]() Even better Visual Studio's XML viewer is not as good (yes, it's an editor) and neither the paid ones. I like to have IE to run on my machine not to browse but to look at XML files, its XML viewer is way better and more readable than Edge. ![]() Point seems to be that the disabling took place via an Edge update, not a Windows update. I wasn't able to get a link to that specific post so I'm pasting the relevant information with the URL which led me there. ![]() Found the info below and was published this AM on a discussion thread.
